5 more...

ok so i'm a little late in posting this time. couldn't find time.
but here's a couple songs.

The Arcade Fire - Black Mirror
(Neon Bible, 2007)
here's a song from the newest album from canadian band The Arcade Fire. very creative band... if you haven't given them a chance, you must.

Bright Eyes - Nothing Gets Crossed Out
(Lifted or the Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground, 2002)
most know of Bright Eyes these days. Conor Oberst definitely has a different voice and interesting style but the more you listen the more he grows on you. for those who don't know, before Bright Eyes Conor Oberst and Tim Kasher (frontman from Cursive) played in a band together by the name of Commander Venus.
8 days ago, april 10th, bright eyes released a new album titled Cassadaga. i've only heard two songs from the album so far, but from what i've heard it's great.
The Cure - In Between Days
(The Head on the Door, 1985)
this song's a tad bit older but a good one. i must admit i don't know a lot about The Cure, but i've recently started listening to the, and their definitely worth a listen.

The Good Life - Waiting On Wild Horses
(Novena On A Noctourne, 2000)
speaking of Tim Kasher, this song is from the first album from his side project The Good Life. you don't have to be a fan of Cursive to love The Good Life. Tim's sound in this project is totally different and much more chill. if it wasn't for his distinct voice you wouldn't know it was him.

Great Lake Swimmers - Moving Pictures Silent Films
(Great Lake Swimmers, 2003)
another canadian band, these guys have more of an indie folk rock sound and have been compared to Red House Painters and Iron & Wine.

Headlights, Page France, & The Tallest Building In The World

as i said i was going to, i've got a couple songs from Headlights, Page France, & The Tallest Building In The World here. excellent stuff from all. the show was great even though i had never heard Headlights or The Tallest Building In The World before. the later has a very different sound that just seemed weird at first, but the more you listen the more you find yourself liking it.
hope someone is benefiting from this...

Headlights
TV
(Kill Them With Kindness, 2006)

Page France
So Sweetly Around Me
(Come, I'm A Lion!, 2005)

The Tallest Building In The World
Souvenir Bullets
Self-Surgery
(Look Down, 2006)

five wonderful songs

ok here’s some good ones to check out.
is anyone even seeing these?

The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up – A Deep Deep Lake
(Homemade Drugs, 2002)
no one has ever heard of these guys... no one i’ve ever met. but they've had a number of albums over a number of years. i’d try to describe them but i’m not sure how. very melodic, kind of “downer” lyrics, quite calming music without being too slow and boring. give them a try.

Pretty Girls Make Graves – All Medicated Geniuses
(The New Romance, 2003)
not many bands that play “harder” music can get away with having a female singer. most i’ve heard that have a female singer just don’t sound right. pretty girls make graves are the exception. Andrea Zollo has a beautiful voice that can be also be a little harsh when need be. they’re an excellent and different band that i loved the moment i heard. sadly they're in the midst of their last tour. click here to find out where you can see them for the last time.

Imogen Heap – Closing In
(Speak For Yourself, 2005)
formally the singer of the band/duo Frou Frou (the song at the end of the movie Garden State was Frou Frou), Imogen’s solo stuff is even better. she has the most wonderful and versatile voice. i can’t recommend her enough.

Looper – Dave The Moon Man
(Up a Tree, 1999)
formed by ex-Belle and Sebastian bassist Stuart David, Scottish band Looper is another exceedingly interesting band no one knows of. as implied in their name, they rely heavy on their ability to loop music and sounds into creative arrangements. this from there first album, this song is a personal favorite of mine, but more for the semi-storyline lyrics.

The Weakerthans – Elegy For Elsabet
(Left & Leaving, 2000)
the weakerthans are an old favorite of mine. from our neighbor canada, they're just simply original and all around lovely musical geniuses.
